You see a stranger wondering around the streets and you ask him, Where are you going?” The stranger replies, “Don’t know.” This persons lacks direction, has no goals and is lost. Now look at your own life. Take a step out of your bubble and ask yourself, “Where am I going?”
Why are you here on earth? When you have the answer to this question then you can work towards it by setting stepping stones that are related to all aspects of your life i.e. personal as well as work life, to reach your goal.
The only person that can answer why you are here is yourself and no one else. For example:
- For person A it may be that my purpose in life is that I am meant to make the world a better place and that is why I am a teacher.
- For person B it may be that my purpose in life is to make money and enjoy myself and teaching is a means to an end.
- For person C it may be that my purpose in life is to please a higher being e.g. God and teaching is a way to serve God’s creation and become closer to him.
Now you understand your purpose you can set goals to achieve these goals. Remember the goals need to be SMART.
Why have goals? This is because people who set goals are more successful and these people are more happier in life.
Therefore, set goals in your life which you can work towards and start to work towards them.
